Novum 4.2.0 release notes

Improved stability on SCI and pre-paids

Based on our merchant feedback, we’ve made strides in improving the stability of the billing process for merchants using the Shopify Checkout Integration (SCI). The previous implementation would occasionally surface errors when a shopper was checking out while the system was processing recurring orders. With the most recent updates, the team has kept error mitigation and a seamless customer experience in mind so processing recurrent orders will be less likely to cause an error, especially when multiple customers are attempting payments in a store.

We’ve also rolled out general stability improvements for pre-paids.

LoyaltyLion V2 Now Generally Available for SCI & SCI(m)!

LoyaltyLion is a rewards and loyalty platform that specializes in customer retention and LTV via their post reward-application data and analytics.

How does it work?

  • Loyalty points redeemed via LoyaltyLion translate to Recharge discount codes
  • Dynamic discount codes are generated and displayed for the end user upon redemption
  • Merchants can analyze usage, engagement, etc. in LoyaltyLion based off of processed Shopify & Recharge charges

What has changed?

  • Merchants can now choose whether discount codes should be eligible for checkout or for to be applied to existing subscriptions via the portal which means that customers get to pick what type of discount code they would like to redeem their points for (checkout or subscription). This ensures that discount code usage is accounted for in their respective platform when used by the customer, which avoids any potential abuse of discount code usage.
  • Discount codes can now apply to multiple charges
  • Codes are created in both systems if the merchant is on SCI or SCI (m)

Customer Portal improvements for stores using Multiple Payment Methods!

Multiple payment methods is now generally available for all merchants and we have launched a number of improvements to the customer portal experience focused on making it easier than ever for customers to make payment and shipping address updates.

What’s new?

  • When customers make a shipping address change or payment method change to one of their subscriptions, they are prompted to make the change for all other associated subscriptions OR the single subscription.
  • If customers want to adjust the shipping address or payment method on file from the subscriptions page and they don't see the option they are looking for they are prompted to add a new one.
  • If customers have multiple payment methods on file they can bulk move subscriptions from one payment method to another.
  • Improved handling for when a customer has no payment method or shipping address on file and improved error handling overall
  • Shipping and payment information is updated separately.
  • New translations are available for any of the new out-of-the-box text, to empower merchants to create a cohesive brand voice throughout the customer portal.

Note: A new theme engine version will be released shortly.

Availability:

  • Multiple payment methods are the default for all new stores
  • Shopify Checkout: Generally available and the default for all stores
  • Migrated Shopify Checkout: Generally available and the default for all stores

New Order Details and Subscription Details pages

We redesigned two essential pages to streamline your experience while editing a customer's subscription settings, as well as provide a more intuitive, in-depth view of processed orders.

Subscription Details page
The new Subscription Detail is designed to offer a greatly clarified and streamlined experience when editing a customer’s subscription settings.

Key features
  • Consolidates subscription settings into subsections (e.g. “Product details,” “Order schedule”) for clearer visibility.
  • Displays the nearest Recent and Upcoming orders on the subscriptions page so that a subscription's most relevant orders can be easily accessed and managed.
  • Supports secondary subscription management tasks (e.g. address or payment method updates, line item property management, etc.) via secondary menus for a cleaner page design.

Order Details Page
The new Order Details page is designed to offer a more intuitive view of a Recharge order. Our ultimate goal is to make this page visible for orders in any status, with the management options appropriate for that status (e.g. reschedule upcoming orders, retry chart errors, refund processed orders). But we’re starting by replacing the Order Details page that exists for processed orders.

Improved handling of failing webhooks!

All merchants using Recharge webhooks will now benefit from a webhook management update that reflects industry best practices on the identification and handling of webhooks that are failing.

The update includes several enhancements such as:

  • removal of webhook after 20 failed retries to prevent inundating your webhook endpoint (since no messages will be received from Recharge for a failing webhook)
  • system-generated email alerts when failed delivery attempts are detected and/or the webhook is removed after several failed delivery attempts.

To learn more on how to address failing webhooks, please review our support documentation.
