New! Accounts endpoint available in v2021-11 of the Recharge API

All merchants using version 2021-11 of the Recharge API can now benefit from the all-new Accounts endpoint.

With this new endpoint, merchants can use a single request to fetch a complete list of all the internal staff members with access to the Recharge merchant portal, when they were activated and whether the user is set up as a ‘store owner’.

In addition to making this data accessible via the Recharge API, merchants can use this information to
  • build visibility of how their Recharge portal is being accessed and
  • guide their internal security and privacy policies.
To try out this endpoint, check out our API Reference documentation.

Broader triggers for store/updated webhook

The store/updated webhook for all merchants is now updated to emit the webhook when for a wider variety of triggers such as:

  • changes to any fields in the store object, including a change in URLs
  • changes to the theme in use
  • changes to checkout in use

Merchants and partners can use this webhook to track critical changes to their store such as:

  • update/review advanced customizations that might be negatively impacted due to changes in key URLs
  • 3rd party integrations can pro-actively identify the appropriate version of their solution that is compatible and performant with the store type

RechargeSMS: New Landing Page Opt-in Widget

RechargeSMS now has the ability to generate a landing page for customer opt-in! Creating a landing page easily allows for existing subscribers to opt-in to transactional messages outside of the checkout flow and via email & SMS.

What’s new?

  • A landing page opt-in card has been added to the RechargeSMS dashboard.
  • Once clicked, the landing page card will prompt merchants to customize their branding information (Shop Name / Logo / Primary Color).
  • The card also provides an interactive UI for merchants to preview and customize.

How does it work?

Merchants:

  • Once branding information has been finalized, the customizations produce a dynamic code snippet (HTML/CSS/JS) generated after the merchant clicks “Save”.
  • Merchants are then directed to create a new page in the Shopify store settings where the custom script is pasted after selecting the 'Show HTML' button.
  • After saving, the widget is then displayed for subscribers to interact with.

Subscribers:

  • On the widget page, subscriber’s can enter the email associated with their subscription as well as a phone number.
  • Completing the form will prompt:

    • A text message with a validation code to ensure the number belongs to them.
    • An email (the one entered) an authorization URL to authenticate the changes.

Update to ‘Charges - processed’ export

All merchants using Recharge can now proactively capture unexpected charges within a selected date range when using the ‘charges - processed’ export, available within the Recharge merchant portal.

With this update, once the merchant enters the appropriate date range for the ‘charges - processed’ export, Recharge will automatically
  • remove charges that failed to process within the selected period. This includes charges that got rescheduled to a future date due to reasons such as card declines or order errors
  • include any charges that got processed within the selected time range despite being originally scheduled for a different date
Merchants can still identify the original queued date of the charge within the exported file under the column charge.charge-date.

To learn more about exports, visit support documentation here.

Edit discounts in Recharge

Previously, you only had the option to disable, deactivate, or delete existing discount codes and create a new one if you needed to modify the terms of a discount.

Recharge now supports the ability to edit existing discounts on your Recharge store! That means you can increase the number of uses and extend the expiration date on all discounts.

This will provide more flexibility and make it easier for you to manage your Recharge discounts.

'Subscriptions' section is now available in the admin portal

In the past, viewing subscription information in your admin portal required navigating through multiple pages. Now, with the 'Subscriptions' section, there is a centralized location for a granular look at individual subscriptions.

Next time you visit your admin portal, you will see a 'Subscriptions' tab on your navigation. This page provides high level information about subscriptions like subscription ID, title, price, quantity, frequency, SKU, next charge date, customer email, status and more.

In addition you can:

  • Search for subscriptions via specific criteria (subscription ID, address ID, customer ID, customer email, SKU, external variant ID)
  • Filter by subscription status and created date
  • Click a subscription ID to edit
  • Click Edit Columns to choose which columns you see on the page

Recharge is now a non-embedded app on BigCommerce

Recharge now opens in a standalone tab, rather than within the BigCommerce embedded view. No action is needed on your part and does not affect any functionality for your store - you'll see this update the next time you log in to your portal.

You’ll experience these immediate benefits:

  • More room to work: You’ll be able to use the full page to manage your subscriptions.
  • Improved performance: The Recharge app experience will feel faster and smoother in a full-page tab than it does within the BigCommerce.
  • Broader browser and device support: You can now use Recharge on Safari, in Chrome incognito mode, tablets and other mobile devices!

Bulk update products in a collection

Now you choose to bulk update the subscription properties of all products in a collection.
From any collection details page, you can choose to bulk update subscription properties for all products in that collection. You will be taken to a page, similar to the product details page where you can select the subscription properties you want. We are leveraging the power of Recharge’s async batch endpoint to allow subscription property updates of up to 10,000 products. Since a collection is just a grouping of products, you are free to update a subset of products individually or in a different collection without affecting any other products.

Show & Hide BigCommerce Product Variants in the Customer Portal now in Open Beta

On BigCommerce, merchants can decide if a product variant is “Purchasable” on their storefront. When a product variant is set to “Purchasable”, it appears on the storefront and the Add to cart button is displayed when the product variant is selected. When the “Purchasable” setting is disabled, the product variant appears on the storefront, but the Add to cart button is hidden when the product variant is selected.

Recharge has added this setting to our product so that when the “Purchasable” setting is disabled for a product variant, it is hidden in the customer portal.

How does it work?

  • When a product is set to “Purchasable” in BigCommerce, it will be displayed to customers in the product variant dropdown
  • When the product is not set to “Purchasable” in BigCommerce, it will be hidden from customers in the product variant dropdown
  • If all variants on product have the “Purchasable” setting disabled, the entire product will be hidden from customers in the Customer portal

Workflows: Cart Creation & Order Regeneration Triggers now in Closed Beta

Merchants have the ability to create workflows that modify subscriptions and automate processes using pre-defined templates. In addition to the two workflow triggers we offer today, (1) once the initial order is created and (2) on a specific recurring order, we have introduced two new triggers that you can use to initiate workflows:
  • Checkout cart: triggers a workflow after the shipping quote process but before the order is submitted in Recharge
  • Recurring order regeneration: triggers a workflow when a charge is regenerated for a recurring order (usually due to a product add/swap
This enhancement will provide more flexibility to automate the processes you need to run your business.

How does it work?
  • Select one of the new triggers when creating a workflow
  • When creating a workflow using the checkout cart trigger, the workflow will modify the cart prior to the creation of the initial order
  • When creating a workflow using the recurring order regeneration trigger, the workflow will modify the products prior to regenerating the recurring order
