Peel Insights available for all Shopify merchants

Peel Insights is an automated customer analytics platform that helps Shopify merchants grow faster by making it easy to see what’s happening and why.

How does it work?

The integration allows Recharge to pass merchant’s subscription data into Peel’s platform, providing better data segmentation and insights. Peel users can now connect to Recharge and gain instant access to 41 subscription metrics, allowing merchants to accurately analyze subscription data such as:

  • subscription metrics by cohorts
  • post-purchase revenue data
  • duration of active subscribers
  • segmentation by locations, products, or subscription types (cancellation reason, day of the month, order frequency, pre-paid, etc.)

Where can I learn more?

'Collections' API resource is now available!

All merchants using v2021-11 of the Recharge API can now access the 'Collections' endpoint resource to manage their collections, a powerful way to group products.

Using this new API resource, merchants can create/edit/delete collections with simple API calls for actions such as:

  • Create, update, and delete a collection
  • List collections
  • List products in a collection
  • Bulk add products to a collection (up to 250 products)
  • Bulk Delete products from a collection

Additionally, merchants using the Recharge Theme Engine can also personalize subscriber experience in the customer portal by only presenting collections that are best suited to a customer's existing subscription products.

Improved handling of failing webhooks!

All merchants using Recharge webhooks will now benefit from a webhook management update that reflects industry best practices on the identification and handling of webhooks that are failing.

The update includes several enhancements such as:

  • removal of webhook after 20 failed retries to prevent inundating your webhook endpoint (since no messages will be received from Recharge for a failing webhook)
  • system-generated email alerts when failed delivery attempts are detected and/or the webhook is removed after several failed delivery attempts.

To learn more on how to address failing webhooks, please review our support documentation.

RechargeSMS: Redesigned Onboarding Experience!

RechargeSMS has a completely redesigned onboarding experience, featuring a streamlined walkthrough process, SMS status indicators, and UI elements built to make activation guided, friendly and fast.

What’s new?

  • Short and sweet — We’ve reduced the process to 2 main stages + one-click activation
    • Enable Features, Format Products, & Activation
  • New UI Element — A guiding companion to get merchants through onboarding (and more - coming soon 😉)
    • Explains each step and reinforces with feedback
  • New Status Indicator (red, yellow, green)
The new Messaging Limited (yellow) status will inform merchants that they only have a test segment on - they need to turn on their opt-in to activate, offering more clarity on service status.

How does it work?

  • When a merchant installs RechargeSMS, they will be greeted by a new UI element that sits at the bottom left of the screen, inside the sidenav. They can move through onboarding by clicking the CTA at the bottom.
  • They can enable our recommended features with just a click or explore on their own.
  • Merchants will be prompted to import their products and format titles.
  • Lastly, they can either turn on their opt-in to activate SMS or start with a test segment first.
    • RCS and SCI stores at this stage see slightly different UI

Avalara available for merchants on Shopify Checkout

Avalara is a tax calculation and filing software that integrates with Recharge on Shopify and BigCommerce. However, we have not yet approved its use until now for merchants using Shopify checkout for subscriptions & merchants who've converted to the new Shopify checkout.

What’s new?
We’ve tested Avalara on Shopify checkout using Shopify's own integration and determined both checkout and subsequent recurring charges both fetch tax and report tax correctly in Avalara.  We’ve also validated that stores who've converted from Recharge to Shopify checkout or recently migrated to Shopify checkout are able to use Shopify's integration with Avalara to fetch tax on checkout and recurring charges.  Stores who've converted from Recharge to Shopify checkout or migrated to Shopify with customers on another payment platform can additionally using our own Avalara integration to fetch tax on migrated/converted recurring charges.

How does it work?
Stores that have launched on Shopify checkout should setup Avalara on Shopify only. Shopify has an agreement with Avalara to subsidize the costs of Avalara transactions, hence all Shopify checkout and recurring charges fall under that agreement.

Stores who've recently switched to the new Shopify checkout (either via migration or via converting from Recharge checkout) should setup Avalara on Shopify and in Recharge.  All Shopify checkout and recurring charges will be calculated by Shopify’s own Avalara integration (and billing agreement).  All migrated/converted customers who are billed by Recharge will need to use Recharge’s Avalara integration to fetch tax.  These migrated/converted customers will be billed separately by Avalara (since they do not fall under Shopify's billing agreement).  All merchants still must be on Shopify Plus to use Avalara on Shopify.

Where can I learn more?
To learn more about Avalara and Recharge, visit support documentation here.

What’s next?
Any merchants who are waiting to convert from Recharge to Shopify checkout but have been waiting on Avalara, can now be setup with the integration by support. Please contact support@rechargepayments.com for assistance setting up Avalara Avatax.

Rulesets have become Collections

In the past, you couldn’t leverage Collections if your existing products were within a ruleset.

Now, you can find all your existing rulesets under your Collections tab, you won’t lose any of the functionality you have today, and can now make full use of the Collections feature.

You’ll experience these immediate benefits:

  • The ability to add products to multiple collections
  • Bulk edit an entire collection to the same product rule settings
  • Curate custom collections
  • Assign a custom collection to your customer portal

To learn more about Collections, visit support documentation here.
